Built around the physical result

A pretty mesh is not the same as a printable one.

General 3D generators optimize for appearance. Prompt2STL starts with measurable constraints: is the mesh closed, does it fit the selected build volume, and is the requested wall thick enough?

This MVP is a prompt-guided parametric modeler, not a general-purpose text-to-anything AI. It currently handles planters, open containers, trays, rings, tokens, and cylinders because those forms can be made reliably printable in-browser.

Free-form characters, organic sculptures, and multipart mechanisms need a generative model plus a much deeper repair pipeline. We would rather show a clear boundary than give you a broken STL.

Can I actually 3D print the downloaded model?

Prompt2STL exports checked STL geometry for supported forms. Import every file into your slicer, verify orientation and toolpath, and treat the print-card values as directional estimates.

What kinds of prompts work today?

Simple functional forms: planters, cups, trays, rings, spacers, tokens, coins, discs, pegs, and cylinders. Include dimensions such as “80mm wide, 120mm tall, 2mm walls” for the best result.

Why not generate every kind of object?

General text-to-3D models often need topology repair, thickness work, scale correction, and support planning. This MVP starts with forms it can make predictably watertight and dimensionally useful.

Is my prompt sent to a server?

No. The prompt parser, geometry generation, checks, preview, and STL export run entirely in your browser. Refreshing the page clears the current model.

Should I choose STL or 3MF?

STL has the widest slicer support and is available in this MVP. 3MF can retain units and richer print metadata, so it is a sensible next export format for the product.
